Abortion Is Not A Health Issue

Calling abortion a health issue is crap. Nothing is wrong with the woman who wants an abortion exceeeeeeeeeeeeept maybe her morals.

You're incorrect.
Although most abortions are performed because of birth control reasons and therefore not a health issues, there are times that abortions must be performed for valid medical reasons. That's why Jewish law looks at each case individually instead of issuing a blanket prohibition like Catholicism.

>> Nothing is wrong with the woman who wants an abortion

this is different than

>> Something is wrong with the woman who neeeeeeds an abortion or else she is going to die.

Actually, in a 100% perfect world, the Catholic reasoning about abortion makes sense that you can't do something bad (kill the fetus) to affect what's actually a good thing (save the mother).

we live in a less than perfect world so a compromise gotta be made in terms of letting an abortion happen if the mother is going to die.

SJ, this is why issues of abortion should be left to *women* and not judgemental ignorant men.

Abortion is a health issue if for no other reason than if it is illegal a woman desperate enough will seek the "back alley procedure" that uses a coat hanger or knife.

Do not sit there and spew judgement on a woman. You will never know what it is like to carry life within your body nor will you ever understand the heartbreaking decision a mother would have to make to end that life. It is not done lightly and leaves more than physical scars.

Shame on you.

Society should do a better job driving home that it shouldn't get to that point.

Seems to me more of a psychological issue than a medical issue if a woman or anyone wants to do a procedure on themselves.

I won't call it a health issue if nothing is actually damaged.

Your ignorance is showing. Abortions, even done in clinics can cause damage...so yes, it is a health issue.

How should society drive home that point? Abortion has been around as long as women have gotten pregnant. It's never going away. The best thing society can do is provide safe clean enviorments to do so and to offer councelsing afterward. (Planned Parenthood for instance)

And back alley procedures aren't done by the women themselves but by quack job "doctors" who are nothing but butchers of women.

Again, this is a *woman's health issue*.

It's really a societal health issue. The government should promote the heterosexual family. Schools and homes should promote abstinence and conservative values.

Hell to the No on all of it. It should not be a surprise that I don't agree with you.

The government needs to stay the hell out of people's bedrooms. They (it) have no business dictating what two consenting adults do with each other in private.

Notice: consenting adults with each other so I don't want to hear the dumb ass arguement that says gay marriage automatically leads to children and animals.

Schools have no business teaching my children government approved "morals". They also need to stay the hell out. I will teach the morals and values that I think are right for my family.

Abstinence is all great (and what I hope my boys choose while in school) but I will not allow them to be ignorant about sex: they will know how to protect themselves and their partners.

And conservative values? You mean the hypocricy such as Palin now against breast feeding? No thank you. My children will be taught honesty, empathy, compassion, and acceptance. Something conservative "moralists" lack.

Well Cora, I welcome debate. It should not be suprise that I say stuff like this as you are aware that this is a conservative blog, not a libertarian blog.

The way I see it, the male organ goes into the female organ. Period. If a person don't like it, somethin's wrong. XD

It could be argued that there is a state interest in promoting abstenance until marriage people who aren't adults yet. Kids should be focused on school work and having fun with friends.

A huge number of schools are already in the business of teaching morals, leftist "morals." I merely suggest that the conservative majority bring our values back into the school systems.

Unfortunately Cora for the Palin incident, people seem to be overreacting.

Anyways, Cora, thanks for coming of course. Any time that you or anyone wants to come to this blog for debate, feel free.

It's not debating, SJ. You are making moral judgements against women and that's not cool.

Just because a person is conservative doesn't give them a right to judge so harshly. Compassion should be part of the agenda.

I don't want conservative or liberal morals in the schools...that all needs to stay home. If I want my kids to be taught a political parties agendas, I would have sent them to a private school.
