Reality:
Orthodox Judaism supports 24/7 learning of torah. While learning is a beautiful thing, unless you are learning on the job for money, you are disengaging from the world (and hopefully) preparing for it. When you learn full time, you are preparing full time. But, when all you do is learn ad infinitum, then you aren't preparing for life now are you? You are preparing for the afterlife. You are preparing for death.
