Mosque In Ground Zero

Instead of arguing against the mosque being built in the vicinity of ground zero, I will attempt to refute arguments for it from a particular youtube video.

Is this a case of a human tendency to expand anger to a much larger group because of a few bad apples?

The answer is no.

- The Imam (islamic equivalent to priest and rabbi) Faisal Abdul Rauf of the mosque project has radical connections.

- Imam Rauf wishes to establish Shariah law in the United States, which as we know, is not compatible with American values.

Is this a case of the Muslim's civil rights being violated?

The answer is no.

This is a case of establishing that respecting the sensitivities of both minorities, and the majority is important. The majority of people don't want a shrine to the religion that killed so many people sooooo close to the site where it happened. This is on top of the fact that the Muslims have historically built mosques on stuff that they conquered.

Further, the Islamic Middle East is sorely lacking in the area of religious freedom. In order for the Middle East to enter the modern world, an honest discussion about these shortfalls as well as resulting improvements need to take place.

Are the Muslims, "us?"

I will not comment on the unknown percentage of American Muslims who may hold radical views. The fact is that while they go around "condemning" terrorism against the USA, they do not condemn terrorism against Israel.

Further, the extreme Wahhabist sect of Saudi Arabia is known for paying for Islamic fundamentalism to spread all over the world. A discussion of the mosque's finances is quite pertinent.

The Victory Mosque is just the visible tip of a very large iceberg. Beneath the surface of Western societies, Muslims are waging a campaign of infiltration, subversion, sedition and social sabotage, with the objective of destroying our countries and way of life from within.

Ya in the USA muslims support the Democrats and the stuff Democrats stand for Muslims would kill people for that kind of stuff.

The problem is that most of your contentions are irrelevant.
For example, it is irrelevant that Muslim countries would never show the same tolerance towards Chrisians seeking to build a church/community centre. Should America demand public nudity because Saudi Arabia demands women wear veils?
Secondly, the difficulty with saying a mosque shouldn't be built within 2 blocks of Ground Zero raises a problematic question: okay, what's the acceptable distance? And on what basis do you declare a certain area in Manhattan to be mosque-free? And does that include the Muslim guy working in the area who, at lunch, spreads out a prayer mat in his office to pray? And if not, why the mosque?
The answer to the mosque is to make those who support its existence, the politically correct crowd, become extremely uncomfortable. Rent a billboard across the street and post cartoons of Mohammed on it, open a strip joint and bar next door, that kind of thing. See how far you can push these tolerant folks until they reveal their actual intolerance.

It is very veeeery relevant that the Muslim world is on par with the West in religious freedom.

A mile is probably fine. XD

Gound Zero is the basis to make it Mosque free. If an individual Muslim wants to pray in his office or whatever who cares.

We already have that in the Middle East's lack of religious freedom. Thanks for agreeing with me Garnel. XD
