I guess there's no saying "resistance is futile" to father time. Rabbi & Borg Leader Noach Weinberg founder of Aish HaTorah (missionaries to secular jews) has passed away. Not even of old age. It was from cancer and broken bones. Yes indeedie. After all that talk in an Aish website article once about Sukkot being a bailout plan for jews ..... oops ... not for Weinborg! XD
I feel that a lesson that can be learned from weinborg's death is that when a situation comes up, always look at it realistically and come up with a strategy on what steps you are going to take to make things better in the real world, as opposed to "torah tefeilah and mitzvoitz" (torah study, prayer, and following commandments).
A real world strategy towards making things better for yourself is preferable to pie in the sky god in the sky, prayer god give me this give me that and then waiting forever for it to happen while you are studying the oh so facking relevant (note sarcasm) information that the talmud has to offer us like on animal sacrifices and shit like that.
Do your own research. Go to work and keep earning paychecks. Only you can your life better for yourself. Pursue your happiness.

You may disagree with Rav Weinberg but this post is in the lousiest of taste. Mocking a guy for dying of cancer because you disagreed with him? That's pretty low SJ.
lol garnel you are such a kill joy XD
Yu are in completely bad taste, you may disagree with the message but your comments about the recently deceased were cruel. maybe you are f****d up.
maybe i am f####d up! XD
Don't listen to the frum assholes. You have every right to say whatever you want. Taste shmaste.
Personally, I would not expect a psychopath to have good taste.
Anyway, there is a story that Ben Gurion once met the Chazon Ish and told the Chazon Ish that unless he permitted women to join the Israeli army that his life would be in danger. The Chazon Ish told Ben Gurion "Plenty of guns have been fired. But we're still here." Anyway, one rabbi dying, while painful, is by no means the death of Judaism.
pig
This is terrible
You are a horrible human being (if we can even call you that)
Read my blog XD!
I wonder if Aish is going to have a disclaimer on their home page saying that their sukkot bailout program didn't work for Weinborg.
(.o
XD
You know, lots of people think Jewish Philosopher is a religious wingnut who writes hateful anti-religious screeds. But there is a theory that he's really an anti-religious wingnut who pretends to be religious so that religious people will be seen negatively.
I'm starting to think that theory might apply to you. You're really religious but you masquerade as a secular Jew to make them all look horrible.
Oh don't deny it. You love being shomer negiah.
>> Oh don't deny it. You love being shomer negiah.
Garnel don't project onto me.
Nah, I'm not projecting. You know what's happening here?
This is like the annoying guy who shows up at the party with his friends and starts making off-colour jokes, but not too off-colour so that while many people around are offended and just want him to shut up, his friends still laugh at the crap he's spouting.
And then he makes a comment so rude that even his friends stop and start to stare at him. But he doesn't notice and just keeps doing it even as everyone edges away to put a safe distance between him and them.
You're that person right now, SJ. Please, stop it.
Garnel:
Just shut up already.
And stop projecting.

this crap coming from someone in a culture whose kiruv levels can't even break even with its off the derech levels.
and garnel, stop faking projecting.
I GOT IT! All these star trek references? SJ is a big nerd and all the girls he likes reject him SO he blames kiruv rather than the fact that he is a loser!
(that or he is WAY to small to "take care of business)
The star trek references are more relevant than you care to admit.
I cant admit anything because im not a GIANT nerd and dont watch the show!!!!!!!!! I have a wife who i get to have sex with. You on the other hand: the last vigina you ever, or will ever see was your mother's when you were born!
you have a wife who will threaten you with divorce the second you disagree with anything the religion says.
what a life that is.
"you have a wife who will threaten you with divorce the second you disagree with anything the religion says.
what a life that is"
What an assumption! Where did you get that from? That is an amazing case of stereotypying. How many religious people do you ACTUALLY know that you think they are all the same? Do you even know onw?
One of these days you will realize that not everyone in religious Judaism is the same. Just like all women are the same: Star Trek is a HUGE turn off.
>> How many religious people do you ACTUALLY know that you think they are all the same?
uuuh all of them?
>> Do you even know onw?
yes.
>> Just like all women are the same: Star Trek is a HUGE turn off.
now look who is stereotyping
I enjoyed your post and I agree with your points, but I do want to point out one thing: this person was a human being and he died. I don't feel bad for him, other than the pain he must have suffered before he died, since I think death=nonexistence and is therefore painless, but I do feel bad for his family and those who loved and admired him.
That said, I agree that his life's work was utterly pointless at best and downright harmful at worst.
I also find it interesting how people can actually believe that "tzedaka tatzil me'maves" and "sukkot is our bail-out plan" while the man who preaches it and runs the program is dying of cancer. Pardon my French, (I generally refrain from cursing on other people's blogs, but I feel it particularly appropriate right here) but what the fuck?! There is no way to falsify this, you see. If the rabbi lives to a ripe old age and dies painlessly in his sleep, it proves that his words were true. And if he dies of cancer, it still proves that his words were true. So basically, they are unwilling to accept ANY kind of evidence that could EVER happen, to disprove these ideas about tzedaka, sukkot, keeping mitzvot, etc. In other words, they've been brainwashed. But we already knew that, so never mind. Oh, and sorry for the rant.

Uh, yeah, you're an idiot. Let's see...I have two X chromosomes...therefore I also have a vagina (please notice how the word is spelled)...yet Star Trek is not a turn-off. Uh-oh, problem with your theory, sir. Go back, think about it, drink a few less l'chaims, if you drink, and then come back, ok?
