Some people like to tease Christianity because

if they're like a wise guy they'll be like oh Christianity will allow you to do anything and then just repent for it and tadaaah Jesus will forgive you!

First of all, God deals with wise guys who think that they can get away with crap and repent after like it's a game.

Secondly, what does the Old Testament say?

"Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon." Isaiah 55:7

Wow so, with this, and my recent post on original sin, it seems that except for the Jesus part, Christianity and Judaism is in fact closer than some people may have previously thought.

Well, D'UH!!
Of course Judaism and Christianity are very close, a zei chiddush you suddenly discovered!?!?
And guess what? It is pretty much EXACTLY the Jesus part where we diverge. I think just about any tinok shel beis rabbon can tell you that...
I think if anything the point you may be trying to make is that we tend to think that Teshuva in the Christian view is easy and requires a simple declaration of faith "to be saved", whereas we know that Teshuvah is difficult, lengthy work with many steps (azeivas hachait, charoto, kaballah al ha'asid - I hope you DO remember these concepts)

Comeon, yeshivas don't present Judaism and Christianity as being closely related. Yeshivas present Islam as being closer to Judaism than Christianity.

Anyways, the New Testament concurs that faith and good works are necessary ingredients.

James 2:20 "faith without works is dead"

You basically slandered the New Testament. Repent. XD
