Yes, but the Republicans don't have anyone and if Sarah Palin decides to enter the race they'll be ridiculed out of contention.

Don't underestimate Palin or the GOP for that matter.

Palin is the worst thing that could happen. The press will go into hypermode to discredit and ridicule her and quickly create an environment in which it is embarrassing to take her seriously.

@ Garnel Ironheart:

Remember. SJ is not representative of all Americans, or even all Republicans. He IS in fact representative of the Jesus freak faction. ANY Republican candidate looks good to the Jesus freaks right now. (And any Democrat is unappealing to the wealthy.) The trick is to appeal to the centre. Barack Obama will always have his supporters. Pretty much any Republican candidate can court the Jesus freaks. Getting wealthy backers is a bit trickier. (They may not like Obama's tax policy, but they know what to expect, with Palin they don't, plus she tends to humiliate the big donors.) Getting the support of the masses of working class and middle class voters who are not Jesus freaks is a challenge!
