1) Science takes you into space, cures diseases, and improves the lives of people. Orthodox Judaism makes sure that your lives are as strict and boring as possible. You can't cough without having to read the Gemara and the Shulchan Aruch about it.
2) The profit motive of capitalism is an important catalyst for the advancement of science in this day and age.
