This post made me laugh. Except for the bracha part at the end.

So . . . how good was it?

Very. And you're not supposed to laugh Ari, you're supposed to say amen. -.-

I love eating stuff on the way home where people are not likely to see me. Still, I am scared that someone would see me.

SJ: How do you go dressed? Yarmulkah and beard?

Are you kidding me? I haven't followed a single halacha in years.

"I haven't followed a single halacha in years."

I didn't realize it's been that long . . . Is that how long you've been outside your community or just before you were able to leave you ceased keeping Halacha?

I was never frum. I meandered between the secular world and the orthodox world whenever it suited me until I came to the realization that I had to pick one because orthodoxy is an all or nothing deal.

Naturally I picked secularism because of more objectivity and more freedom.

For several years already, I am no longer associated with the orthodox community. I haven't went to synagogue in years, I haven't followed the high holidays in years, and I view them all as completely pointless.

woah . . . this is all news to me . . . I was first exposed to your blog around the same time OTD came along and so I was always considered you guys as having similar back-stories.

Even now it was hard finding your old posts b/c you've got so much going on in the sidebar.

Dude, could you re-post your background and where you've been and what you're doing now?
Not in a stalker-ish sense but just to understand where your views on Judaism are centered.

I am seriously totally shocked by this revelation. Awesome.

I pretty much said everything you need to know about my background just now.

I guess so. But like, reading this post without understanding seemed to be that it was your first Philly cheesesteak ever. And you felt the need to post about it.

If you were raised completely secular what's your relationship to the Orthodox community? Is it something you pursued on your own? Is it something your parents burdened you with?

Again, you don't have to talk about these things if you don't want to, but as a reader of your blog it would be insightful and help to understand you better.

Naaaaaaaa. WTF I'm not allowed to enjoy my sandwich? O.o

>> If you were raised completely secular what's your relationship to the Orthodox community?

Ummm blogger against orthodox judaism?

>> Is it something you pursued on your own?

Yes.

>> Is it something your parents burdened you with?

No. In fact if I had nothing to do with orthodox juadism to begin with, I would have had more respect for them and for the Torah than I do now.

Actually I'm OTD.

All right, I'm coming clean here.

See, I'm just a low level blogger. despite insightful and provocatives posts, I can't seem to build a following except for an elite circle of followers. What's the Leader to do?

So I invent an alter ego, someone who's the opposite of me: crass, non-religious, stupid. And then i start a blog and after "introducing" myself to myself, I create a whole fictional fight between the "two" of us. Yeah, and that attracts people because nothing attracts bloggers like machloikes.

And it worked! The more I bashed myself using my OTD identity, the more hits I actually got myself. I thinking posting a fictional IP address was my most brilliant move. It's of no practical use. After all, most people have better things to do with their lives than trace IP's, like pick their noses, but it really shows the depth of "hatred" I had for myself.

{Pause for self-satisfied chuckling}

The hardest part was creating those other two blogs. You know how much time it takes to build up an alter ego, convince people I hate myself and make it look real?

Well, I'm glad I got that off my chest.
