Factual Bull Crap Says 'I Am Not My Brother's Keeper.'

This is what happened.

Factual Bull Crap has tried to display his great commitment to democratic ideals by linking to two blogs that he disagrees with. Then I challenged him to be in favor of better science education in orthodox enclaves in my previous post by saying:

"Unless Factual Basis says that orthodox jews living in enclaves such as Lakewood, New Jersey, Kiryas Joel, New York and Mea Shearaim, Israel should at minimum be aware of the findings of science (and the proofs that science uses) on how the universe began and how life developed on Earth, Factual Basis' link to me and DK is a meaningless publicity stunt"

Then Factual Bull Crap replies in a post on his blog by saying:

“I AM NOT THE EMPEROR OF RELIGIOUS PEOPLE.” First of all, who am I to tell them what to do or what to think"

So in other words, while Factual Bull Crap is giving himself a facade of being nice and democratic on his website, he intends on being completely silent about the orthodox enclave's lack of being able to see all possible sides to an issue before coming to a conclusion on what to believe. Factual Bull Crap is not on a true search for truth in his blog, he is just being a salesman.

Secondly, Factual Bull Crap uses the internet while many people living in orthodox enclaves are not even allowed to use the internet by their rabbis. So in other words, Factual Bull Crap is advocating a lifestyle that disallows their followers in their enclaves the same freedom to use the internet that Factual Bull Crap uses.

Is censorship good for Judaism? Does Judaism require limiting the free flow of information? I have a pretty good feeling that the answer to those questions are no and no. Censorship displays a lack of confidence and I highly doubt that the Old Testament calls for censors amongst its followers.

Thirdly Factual Bull Crap has a law degree (so he says) and he is advocating a lifestyle that in Israel prevents his coreligionists from college and working (aka economic opportunity) while Factual Bull Crap has much economic opportunity for himself.

In this post I have elaborated on perhaps one of the worst most corrupt hypocrisies that orthodox judaism has to offer and lastly I would like to say that if Factual Bull Crap does not come out as being against censorship in orthodox communities, then what Factual Bull Crap is trying to sell is in fact censorship in orthodox communities. A brand new attorney at law in the USA the oldest republic in the world, Factual Bull Crap, is selling censorship in orthodox communities.

If you are reading this post, please politely request on the blog of Factual Bull Crap (the address is http://www.factualbasis.wordpress.com/) that he makes a statement against censorship in orthodox communities. (Chances are he's gonna find some way to cop out of it.)

excuses, excuses. So now my response.
while Factual Bull Crap is giving himself a facade of being nice and democratic on his website, he intends on being completely silent about the orthodox enclave's lack of being able to see all possible sides to an issue before coming to a conclusion on what to believe.

This is your very problem. You assume that I classify myself as Orthodox and more importantly you assume that all Orthodox are the same. If orthodoxy is against the internet, why does the OU, Aish and NCSY have websites? Just to draw in people? That's a pretty crappy reason if they find it so assur. I think you have come to a conclusion way before you have examined all of the evidence. Also I don't represent Orthodox Jews because I believe orthodoxy is a racial slur http://factualbasis.wordpress.com/2008/07/09/orthodoxslur/

Factual Bull Crap uses the internet while many people living in orthodox enclaves are not even allowed to use the internet by their rabbis. I just plain don't agree. There are yeshivas online, there is online simicha, there are website after website with torah and most importantly THERE IS NO COMPANY LINE WHEN IT COMES TO INTERNET. You are making assumptions. I can show you religious organization after orthodox organization that have websites, while you are basing your view on certain groups that do not represent religious Jews as a whole, stop acting like these few radicals represent everyone. Molesting priests aren't the vast majority of priests, most imams aren't terrorists. There are bad seeks in every group.

Is censorship good for Judaism? Does Judaism require limiting the free flow of information? I have a pretty good feeling that the answer to those questions are no and no. Censorship displays a lack of confidence and I highly doubt that the Old Testament calls for censors amongst its followers.

read my article on questioning in Judaism. Obviously I don't believe that.

Factual Bull Crap has a law degree (so he says) and he is advocating a lifestyle that in Israel prevents his coreligionists from college and working (aka economic opportunity) while Factual Bull Crap has much economic opportunity for himself.

First of all, my JD and admission to the Bar only give me the ability to practice law in the US (and one specific state only). Israeli law is very different from American law. Church and State separation is fundamental in the US, but in Israel the religion is at the very heart of the country. It is unfair to place our laws on their laws. Is it legal in Israel? So then don't bother me till they break it in the US.

Be careful also with claiming censorship on these groups in the way you do. It is not illegal for a group that is non-governmental to censor something, therefore if a school or a group doesn't allow them to see something its their choice. Just move or leave the school. Its their own choice.

So I WONT condemn something that isn't illegal AND something that isn't happening in great numbers or even significant numbers. If it was as prevalent as you say then I would have something to say about it. But while it is happening in less then 1% of the Jewish communities (if you say its more, prove it to me) i'll deal with more important stuff for now.

Is that me copping out of it? If you want, but personally i'm not doing what you want ESPECIALLY when NOT ONE person has come to your call. Looks like people agree with me.

If orthodoxy is against the internet, why does the OU, Aish and NCSY have websites?

First of all, NCSY is a subsidiary of the OU, a right-wing MODERN Orthodox organization, so you are bringing 2 of the same orgs. Aish is a black hat "kiruv" organization, and as we all know, there are loopholes for the converters.

Now...the mainstream black hatters do not allow the internet, which is why the Agudath Israel does not have a site.

However, they still have a site of sorts with "Cross-Currents."

As a black hat site, they often avoid linking to sites they disagree with, lest they offer the view of other side to someone who finds it makes more sense. So they only have a site to offer their point of view, but as we already noted, the Agudah does not approve of internet usage. Hence, ideally, they get their view across to people outside their camp, but those in their camp do not get any other point of view.

Remember -- the black hatters banned the internet over blogs -- not porn.

Because the ultra-Orthodox world can only survive in an ignorant world.

As for your complaint about the term "Orthodox" -- this is--or rather, was -- a 19th century battle. Stop it. Don't waste everyone's time.

factualbasis said...

your right it was a 19th century battle just like the N word...those black people shouldn't be so sensitive that was a 19th century battle

Once I heard an orthodox rabbi tell me straight to my face that he only does business with orthodox jews. Another dude with a yamica said that he only listens to music from orthodox jews (his taste in music sucks XD ).

were these two people using racial slurs?

factualbasis said...

are rappers who use the N word using an ethnic slur? Depends on who you ask. But there is no doubt where the origin of the word comes from, and its negative, and I want no part of it.

Just because other people are OK with it, doesn't mean I have to be or that they are right.

SJ said...

ok so when the orthodox union calls themselves the orthodox union, is one of the biggest kosher supervisors in the world using a racial slur?

factualbasis said...

not exactly, because the "colored persons" part of NAACP is also a racial slur. Don't believe me? go to harlem and call someone "colored".

So i say they are all slurs no matter how they are used. Whether they don't think its wrong...i do.

SJ said...

ok facualbasis, you think that orthodox union callin themselves orthodox is a slur, and u think naacp callin themselves colored persons is a slur... u are simply bein nuts.

factualbasis said...

no you misunderstood (which i think is my fault).

When the NAACP called themselves that they were doing it with a term that was accepted at the time. By the time the word became taboo they had already been using it and it would lose name recognition for the group if they changed their name. SO they didn't do anything wrong. But again, no one else is allowed to use that word EXCEPT when refering to the NAACP, that's for sure

Yes the OU is calling itself by a slur. DO they think so? I'm sure not. But when they decided to call themselves that they did it knowing the bad history to the term. It doesn't make it right. Its a slur and has a bad history to the name and its offensive...just like the N word. No matter the current conotation i had a history that shouldn't be drudged up.

The Lamb

(1)

Little Lamb, who made thee?

Dost thou know who made thee?

Gave thee life and bid thee feed

By the stream and o'er the mead:

Gave thee clothing of delight,

Softest clothing, woolly, bright;

Gave thee such a tender voice,

Making all the vales rejoice?

Little Lamb, who made thee?

Dost thou know who made thee?

(2)

Little Lamb, I'll tell thee,

He is called by thy name,

For He calls Himself a Lamb.

He is meek and He is mild;

He became a little child.

I a child, and thou a lamb,

We are called by His name.

Little Lamb, God bless thee!

Little Lamb, God bless thee!
