Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes?

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes is Latin for who guards the guardians?. I say this in reference to the haredi's newest tepaishut (stupidity in hebrew) called Internet Gemachim, which are religious jews entrusted to search the web for other religious jews who are not allowed to use the internet.

Obviously there are multiple problems with this arrangement. 1 is, who guards the guardians? 2 is, why is it ok for some but not for all? 3 is privacy concerns. 4 is "religious police" concerns.

Imported Influence

For the week ending 21 February 2009 / 27 Shevat 5769

by Rabbi Mendel Weinbach

When our ancestors were promised a "Greater Eretz Yisrael" which this week's Torah portion describes as stretching "from the Sea of Reeds to the Sea of the Philistines (the Mediterranean), and from the Wilderness until the River (the Euphrates), they were warned against being influenced by those nations they allowed to remain in their land "lest they cause you to sin against Me."

In our own day this influence is not limited to those dwelling among us. Modern technology has created a "global village" in which foreign cultures invade the minds and hearts of Jews living in their own land.

This threat to the Jewishness of the Jewish state can only be overcome by a return to the Torah values which have always distinguished us as a holy people worthy of enjoying Israel forever.

OF MAN AND GOD

Open up my eyes,
Saving what's been broken,
Wasting all this time,
Now I know you'll never see this side of you that I know
It's been killing me for too long,
It's such a long way down from here.

All this time I've waited,
Never seemed to change,
You're mine, I'm pleading!
Do not be afraid,
Has all our time been wasted?
Sinking with each step,
Scared of what might be next,
Forming in this game we've played for so long.
My instincts disapear,
The only voice I hear
Is telling me to run away from here.

No one left to blame,
Don't shut me out.

Don't shut me out,
And think it'll be okay,
I'll take this knife and bury it today.
- Waiting by Not Forgotten

This is the song from two posts ago. I don't know if it was meant to describe man's true relationship with God (should one exist) but I think it sure as hell hit the nail on the head to a large extent if you ask me.

AISH.COM ON THE "GREATNESS" OF THE LATE BORG LEADER RABBI WEINBORG BACK TO BACK BLOGGING THE INCITEFUL AND THE INSIGHTFUL!!!!!!!!

It's total nonsense, Aish trying to sell the idea that fighting for the jewish people is fighting to make them more orthodox. That is all Weinborg tried to do. Is the jewish people belonging to just one sect good for the jews? I would think no, because for one sect (especially orthodoxy) to establish itself as the only authentic one I think is dangerous for freedom of speech and freedom of thought in the jewish people.

Next, the Aish article tries to portray making the jewish people more orthodox as trying to make the world a better place (tikon olam). this is more nonsense. A better place for control freak rabbis that is. Not a better place for freedom loving individuals.

Lastly, the article talks about Weinborg's "Torah Genius." The bottom line is that without any kind of archaeological evidence, the Torah is hearsay, hearsay, and more hearsay. Weinborg's "greatness" was to be a scholar in hearsay!

Also, still no disclaimer on Aish's website that their Sukkot bailout program for Jews didn't work with Weinborg who died an unnatural death. (Aish.com which should really be called brainwash.com really did call the Sukkot holiday a ''bailout program'' for jews.)

Aish's article on the "greatness" of Weinborg can be found at http://www.aish.com/rebNoach/students/The_Greatness_of_Rabbi_Weinberg3_z.asp

DEMISE OF BORG LEADER: SAY GOODBYE TO NOACH WEINBORG

I guess there's no saying "resistance is futile" to father time. Rabbi & Borg Leader Noach Weinberg founder of Aish HaTorah (missionaries to secular jews) has passed away. Not even of old age. It was from cancer and broken bones. Yes indeedie. After all that talk in an Aish website article once about Sukkot being a bailout plan for jews ..... oops ... not for Weinborg! XD

I feel that a lesson that can be learned from weinborg's death is that when a situation comes up, always look at it realistically and come up with a strategy on what steps you are going to take to make things better in the real world, as opposed to "torah tefeilah and mitzvoitz" (torah study, prayer, and following commandments).

A real world strategy towards making things better for yourself is preferable to pie in the sky god in the sky, prayer god give me this give me that and then waiting forever for it to happen while you are studying the oh so facking relevant (note sarcasm) information that the talmud has to offer us like on animal sacrifices and shit like that.

Do your own research. Go to work and keep earning paychecks. Only you can your life better for yourself. Pursue your happiness.
